Kaiken Vistaflores | Mendoza Malbec Blend, Argentina
Sourced from Kaiken's estate vineyards in Vista Flores and Agrelo in Mendoza — at high altitudes of 950–1,350 metres above sea level — this Vistaflores blend is a superb example of what Mendoza does best. The Malbec provides silky tannins and dark fruit depth, the Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure and freshness, and the Petit Verdot brings an aromatic lift and spice complexity. Vegetarian and vegan-friendly.
Tom's Note: A fantastic value wine — drinks like a wine at multiple of its price. A very elegant wine for the money.
Tasting Notes
Deep purple in colour with well-defined aromas of raspberry, plum and blackberry alongside herbal nuances. The palate displays the silky tannins of Malbec framed by the structure and freshness of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, culminating in a long, lingering finish.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes high-altitude Mendoza wines special?
The Vista Flores and Agrelo vineyards sit at 950–1,350 metres above sea level — significantly higher than most Mendoza production. The altitude produces a wide diurnal temperature range (hot days, cold nights) that allows the grapes to ripen fully while retaining natural acidity and freshness. The result is wines with greater complexity, better balance and more defined structure than lower-altitude Mendoza alternatives.
Is Malbec a good match for beef?
Malbec is arguably the most natural red wine pairing for beef — particularly British grass-fed beef. The grape's dark fruit character, silky tannins and medium-to-full body complement the richness and savouriness of aged beef beautifully. At 14.5% ABV this blend has the weight to stand up to a ribeye or sirloin without being overwhelmed.
Should I decant it?
It benefits from at least 30 minutes of decanting to open up the fruit and soften the tannins. If you don't have a decanter, opening the bottle an hour before serving achieves a similar result. Serve at 16–18°C.
Is it suitable for vegetarians and vegans?
Yes — the Kaiken Vistaflores is suitable for both vegetarians and vegans, confirmed by the producer.
