Frequently Asked Questions
How long are Yorkshire free range chickens reared for?
Our Yorkshire free range chickens are slow-grown for around 50–70 days — up to twice as long as standard commercial birds. This extended rearing time allows them to develop proper muscle structure, better fat distribution and significantly more flavour than intensively farmed alternatives.
How do I roast a Yorkshire free range chicken?
Bring to room temperature for 1 hour. Rub generously with butter, sea salt and fresh thyme. Roast at 200°C for approximately 20 minutes per 500g, plus 20 minutes. Rest for at least 15 minutes before carving. The natural fat from a properly reared bird will baste itself throughout — the result is noticeably juicier than a standard chicken.
How many does a whole chicken serve?
A 2kg Yorkshire free range chicken typically serves 4 people generously as a main course, with some left over for sandwiches or stock the next day. The quality of the carcass also makes outstanding chicken stock.
Where does the chicken come from?
From one of our trusted partner farms in North Yorkshire, where birds are slow-grown on open pasture and fed a natural, forage-rich diet enhanced with fresh herbs and locally produced cereals. Raised with welfare and quality at the forefront.
